CNI Win Contract To Supply World's Largest Wind Farm

Sepam Group have appointed CNI Ltd  to design and supply the fibre infrastructure for the Transition Pieces on what will become the largest offshore wind farm in the world - 500MW Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm located approximately 23km off the Suffolk coast, adjacent to two sand banks known as the Inner Gabbard and The Galloper.

The Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm is being developed by Greater Gabbard Offshore Winds Limited, a 50:50 joint venture partnership between Airtricity and Npower renewables, the UK fully owned subsidiary of RWE Innogy.

The onshore work site is located at the Port of Vlissingen in the Netherlands. The Fit-out work for the Transition pieces shall be carried out entirely onshore by SEPAM in the Netherlands.

The project duration is estimated to be approximately 22 months with completion expected in June 2010.

It will feature 140 Siemens 3.6 MW offshore wind turbines with a maximum installed capacity of 504MW, sufficient to power over 415,000 homes.
